All three 50 Shades Of Grey movies are available to stream from the comfort of viewers' homes, though they are located on different platforms. For a brief time during the '90s, erotic thrillers were in vogue thanks to the success of Basic Instinct. This led to a wealth of movies chasing that steamy bandwagon, but after the critical and commercial failures of Madonna's Body Of Evidence and Bruce Willis' Color Of Night, this subgenre quickly died off. They were revived — albeit briefly — thanks to the success of 2015's 50 Shades Of Grey, an adaptation of E.J. James' bestselling novel.

James' novel was originally Twilight fan fiction before being rewritten to explore the twisted romance between millionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and college student Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). While the books received mostly terrible reviews from literary critics, they were incredibly popular. 50 Shades Of Grey itself suffered through a fraught production, with original lead Charlie Hunnam exiting just before production began and director Sam Taylor-Johnson and author James clashing creatively over how the story was adapted.

The first film in the trilogy, 50 Shades of Grey, is only available to stream on one platform, which is Netflix.
