Crumbl bakery finally brought back the honey bun cookie and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. I immediately went to the store on Monday to try them and remake them for you. I wasn’t surprised by how soft and chewy the cookies were. That’s what Crumbl has been delivering for a while and I’m obsessed… Except for how sugary the cookies can be sometimes.

These on the other hand were perfectly spiced with cinnamon, plus the honey glaze took them to a whole new level. Recreating this cookie was so fun and I can’t wait for you to try and remake it at home. Trust me when I say it will bring back all the good memories!

This is the best Crumbl Honey bun cookies ever!

To be honest, I am a little bit sad that they didn’t have this cookie before Christmas because I think it would’ve been so good to serve in your holiday cookie boxes or for Christmas brunch that day! But hey, that’s okay, there is always next year.

I think these cookies would also be awesome for Valentine’s Day and Easter as well so it kinda makes up for it.

  • Imperial Sugar granulated sugar & Imperial Sugar Brown sugar – This recipe uses a combination of sugars to get that cookie texture just right.
  • Egg– The gg is the binding agent. Make sure to use an egg at room temperature.
  • Vanilla extract– The vanilla extract will add a little brightness to the cookies.
  • Butter extract The butter extract will truly give it that honey bun hit and flavor.
  • Flour– Use AP flour for these cookies to keep it simple.
  • Corn starch– The corn starch will keep our cookies extra tender.

  1. Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together.
  2. Add in the egg, and vanilla and mix until smooth.
  3. Mix in the flour, corn starch, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Scoop out equally sized cookie dough balls, roll them in between the palm of your hands, then place them on the baking sheet and gently flatten to about 1 inch in thickness. Using a chopstick make the honey bun swirl indentations on each cookie.
  5. Bake in the oven.

How to make Crumbl honey bun cookies catering sized?

To make catering size Crumbl cookies you can make 14 cookies instead of the regular 7 large cookies. Instead of baking those in the oven for 11-12 minutes, you will have to bake them for 8-9 minutes instead. Decorate the same way you would larger ones.

Instructions

Make the cookie dough

  • Preheat the oven to 350F then line a baking sheet with parchement paper and set aside.

  • Cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and creamy. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, butter extract, and mix until smooth.

  • Gently mix in the flour, corn starch, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, & salt.

  • Scoop out equally sized cookie dough balls, roll them in between the palm of your hands, then place them on the baking sheet and gently flatten to about 1 inch in thickness. Using a chopstick make the honey bun swirl indentations on each cookie.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 11-12 minutes then let the cookies cool down on the baking sheet for 15-20 minutes.

Make the honey butter glaze.

  • While the cookies are still in the oven, melt the butter, powdered sugar, honey, and milk extract in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Continuously stir the mixture until the sugar is fully dissolved. Make sure not to boil the butter sauce.

  • Remove the pan from the stovetop, then using a pastry brush, brush each warm cookie with the butter sauce, let the glaze set for a few minutes then enjoy!
