Can honestly say this is the longest period of time I have gone without having a AP / LP position. I'm told my resume is impressive along with my results with previous companies. With that said I keep losing positions to other candidates that don't have the proven record that I have. I can only assume why but this isn't the place to list those rants. So here is a question. What other positions have any of you transitioned into outside of AP / LP? So far I have applied to store manager, OPs manager, inventory control and assistant manager positions without an interview. Has retail changed that much or are they moving on from the old dogs for new tricks.Last if your in the Northern NY area and have a store in need, because your shrink is out of control or need a culture change within your team to increase sales and reduce theft let me know.#diversityandinclusion #lossprevention #lpjobs #assetprotection #retailjobs #jobmarket #retailtheft #shirnk #inventorycontrol

“5 to 7 years in refrigerated meats”.This was a key requirement in a job posting that came my way via one of those recruitment bots. And frankly, I have a beef with it.(Dad jokes are free of charge.)This is a $150k - $200k sales job btw.And they actually went to the trouble of mandating 5+ years in refrigerated meats.Seriously.Now I have nothing against industry knowledge and expertise. And I understand that some product categories – medical devices, heavy equipment, funereal services? – may take up to a year to grasp fully. But how many solid candidates will this company turn away based on this one regressive requirement?I am absolutely not the sharpest tool in the shed; there are many skilled business people out there to whom I pale in comparison. But I have managed to successfully navigate multiple categories in my career:-Paper products (consumer)-Pet Food-Paper Products (commercial)-Outdoor Apparel-Games-Toys-Giftable Products-Video Game Accessories-Consumer ElectronicsAnd I can’t think of one product category or industry where I had more than a 3 month learning curve. Yes there are key industry networks to be made, but again a qualified salesperson will be able to make those connections quickly. An exceptional salesperson will know how to make the most of the connections. And let’s not forget that today’s buyers will and do move in and out of categories every few years. My bachelors degree (with a minor) took 4 years. What is it about refrigerated meat that is so elusive? What happens in year 6 that makes all the difference? Any insight is welcome. It’s been one of those days.SMH…#expertisematters #hiring2024 #oldschool #rocky #betterway #meatfree #wheresthebeef #recruiting #smh

I am sorry – I feel guilty. This feeling is increasing day by day, and it is because of my inefficiency in replying to my DMs (inbox) on LinkedIn or sometimes just leaving them read.Even I am the person who has sent a DM and is left on read, and I feel devastated, hence, I understand the other side of it.There are so many folks who just want to try finding out if there is a job opportunity, but because of my failure in bandwidth or time management, someone may lose a good opportunity. But my failures should be mine and no one else’s.Hence, I am sharing the career page link here where all the open positions are listed: https://lnkd.in/dMFM8grHIf you feel the job opportunities are not currently matching your expectations, you can also drop your resume for future references at people@thewholetruthfoods.comIf you or someone you know is looking for a #job, please tag them and help them find one. Will feel a little guilt-free today.#jobs #opportunity #hiring #helping #sharing

I spent most of my teens and early 20s whilst at uni, working in customer service roles, in various weekend and holiday jobs.As anyone who has worked in retail will know, it ain't easy! 😳I never really fully appreciated those experiences until recently, but I do believe they gave me a solid grounding on the importance of good customer service. And when I started working in the corporate world and ended up going out for various work dinners etc., it was usually quite easy to see which of my colleagues had worked in those sorts of roles in the past, and which had not. How? One word - respect. When you work in customer service, and a customer gives you a hard time, it's a very sucky feeling (especially when you don't feel you deserve it). And it makes you learn and appreciate when you deal with those people in future that a bit of 2-way respect will create a better experience for everyone.A lot of this drives our ethos at konversable. Good customer service is key to how we operate, not to mention our reputation, so we always do our best to listen to our customers and try to exceed their expectations. On that note, we will soon be recruiting for a Customer Success Manager and this is exactly the sort of person we need. Job role to be advertised soon, but for anyone with early interest, please get in touch.#customerservice #customersuccess

"How much would you like to pay for this milk?"That'd be a ridiculous question at a grocery store.Looking for a job should be more like looking for groceries. Before you checkout, the details are presented, including the price. If you stumble across a grocery store, aka company/recruiter, that doesn't have the prices listed, here are some resources you can utilize to get comparables. -> Salary.com-> Glassdoor.com-> Comparably.com-> Levels.fyi (tech-specific)-> Local/National/Global Jobs PostingsFYI, I'd never give an exact number in situations like this. Typically, a 10-20% range is the minimum I'd share, depending on the job. #frankthetank #hiring

Do you look down on people who work in retail? 🛒In my 20’s I worked in retail management for a well known supermarket chain. But I hated telling people where I worked, so if anything I actually looked down on myself.Years after getting out of it and looking back has given me a different perspective.I’m amazed at some of the skills I gained from it and things I experienced ⬇️➡️ I managed teams of up to 20 people at a time➡️ Some of the staff would have been at least twice my age, resenting someone so much younger being in charge, so I had to deal with everything that came with that➡️ I was there to support staff with any personal problems (one thing that stands out is a member of staff breaking down in the back office when they told me they’d just been diagnosed with cancer)➡️ I dealt with so much confrontation from shop lifters and people under the influence (someone once threatened me by saying they knew someone who for £50 would do ‘anything’ to me 😅)And this is only scratching the surface! I genuinely feel I could write a book on the experiences I had.But retail has helped shape me into who I am and I wouldn’t change any of it, perhaps barring leaving it a bit sooner.Have you worked in retail or another sector you feel is looked down on?#Retail #Career
