Ernest George "Ernie" Wolf Obituary - 2023 (2024)

Ernest (Ernie) George Wolf, age 78, of Moss Point, MS, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 2:43 AM from complications of COVID/pneumonia.

Ernie was born March 7, 1945, in Moss Point. He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Wolf and Ola Dykes and three brothers, Ammon Lee, Robert, and James. He is survived by his sister, Priscilla Holt of Tyler, Texas, his wife of 29 years, Susan Wolf, his stepchildren, Toni and Nathan Himes, his nieces, Heather Holt, Christine Holt, Keely Hall, Heather Ferguson, Hilary Malone, Tiffany Tanner, and nephews Jonathan Coulter, Dillon Coulter, Patrick Hall, Justin Wolf, and Daniel Trochesset.

He was a graduate of Moss Point High School, and held received his Associate of Science Degree in Drafting & Design Technology from Perkinston Junior College and bachelor’s in philosophy and biblical Studies at Belhaven College, and his graduate and pastoral training at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) and was ordained in the ministry.

He joined the Pascagoula Boxing Club while attending Moss Point High School and won multiple titles and numerous trophies in the Golden Gloves Boxing Championship during the early to mid-sixties.

• Mississippi Golden Gloves State Champion the next 3 years (’64-’66)

• Runner up in Southern Amateur Athletic Union (’64)

• Winner of Mid-South Golden Gloves Tournament (’65)

• Quarter finalist of National Golden Gloves (’66)

• Numerous Outstanding Fighter trophies

He worked at NASA on the first five moon shots and won the Zero Defects Award. After his training at RTS, he held multiple roles in ministry over the years, and was actively serving as an elder at Grand Bay Community Church by preaching, teaching, and discipling.

His employment included drafting and design in the shipbuilding industry, CAD Operator at Singing River Hospital, and Field Engineer at Ingalls.

In 2022, his music composition, Life Is Like a Country Road, won the Best Song Award and was voted the Best Song Fan Favorite in the Christian Film Festival in Newport News, VA, and he co-produced a short film, The Road to Emmaus, with his wife.

Ernie never met a stranger and loved people of all backgrounds. He had a passion for music and was an avid record collector. Ernie shared the love of GOD everywhere he went. Because of his vast theological knowledge, he was nicknamed ‘Dr. Wolf.’

In addition, Ernie worked as Director of Coastal Training Institute (Drafting and Design) and served as a judge in the All American Miss Pageants in Los Angeles, CA (2008). He was as an extra in the Christiano Brothers’ most recent faith-based movie, Mindreader, played the lead role in The Holy Cow Moovie and was the spiritual advisor & intercessor for the faith-based movie, Wildflowers.

The visitation for Ernie will be held Monday, April 17, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel beginning at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Ragsdale and Rev. John Evans officiating. Interment will be held at Serene Memorial Gardens.
